Report: Jason Aldean’s “Old Boots, New Dirt” Misses Eric Church’s Sales Mark

Based on Hits Daily Double’s weekly album sales report, first week purchases of Jason Aldean’s “Old Boots, New Dirt” did not exceed those garnered by Eric Church’s February release “The Outsiders.”

According to the Hits data, which typically differs only slightly from the more authoritative Billboard/Nielsen report, Aldean’s new album moved approximately 281,292. Enough for a dominant weekly sales victory, the tally nonetheless trails the 288,000 moved by the Church album.

The mark also falls considerably short of the 350-450,000 mark that industry sources were expecting ahead of last week’s release.

Per Hits, other top sellers this week include Hozier’s “Hozier” (~58,415), Barbra Streisand’s “Partners” (~47,691), Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s “Cheek to Cheek” (~36,714), Blake Shelton’s “Bringing Back the Sunshine” (~34,907), Weezer’s “Everything Will Be Alright in the End” (~34,809), Alex and Sierra’s “It’s About Us” (~27,459), Stevie Nicks’ “24K Gold” (~25,984), Sam Smith’s “In the Lonely Hour” (~24,370) and Lady Antebellum’s “747” (~22,548).
