Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Jake Miller Officially Go Top 40 at Pop

From top to bottom, the official edition of Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart was full of movement.

At the top end, Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” made its #1 position official. The song received 17,146 spins during the seven days ending August 16 to rank as pop radio’s most-played song.

While they did not rise as explosively as songs like Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” and Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” Ariana Grande’s “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” and Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne)” gained enough ground to reach the Top 10. They hit #9 and #10, respectively, on the official edition of the Mediabase pop airplay chart.

The aforementioned “Bass” hit the Top 15 this week, while Kiesza’s “Hideaway” and 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Amnesia” both reached the Top 20.

New additions into the Top 30 included Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High),” Katy Perry’s “This is How We Do” and Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars.” The Perry song is also making its first Top 40 appearance; it was #41 on last week’s chart.

Movement also occurred between #31 and #40.

Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda,” which was pop radio’s second-most-added song this week, rocketed 12 places to #32 at pop radio this week. It received 1,258 spins, which represented a gain of 434 from last week’s total.

Pitbull’s “Fireball (featuring John Ryan)” entered at #34 on the strength of 1,188 spins, while Usher’s “She Came to Give it To You (featuring Nicki Minaj)” scores #39 with 932 spins.
