Joe Nichols’ “Crickets” has officially produced a second Top 5 single at country radio.
Issued Sunday evening, the revised Mediabase country airplay chart lists “Yeah,” the follow-up to #1 hit “Sunny and 75,” at #5.
The song’s week-to-week gain of 919 spins (to a total of 6,115) represents the largest for any song in the top ten and the second largest on the entire chart.
The largest gain, predictably, belongs to Kenny Chesney’s “American Kids,” which landed at more than 100 new stations this week. Up 1,073 spins from last week, the new Chesney tune scored 2,280 country radio spins and 20.85 million audience impressions.
It lands at #24 on the chart to continue a Top 25 streak that dates back to 1998.
Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood’s “Somethin’ Bad” also joins the Top 25 this week. The week’s fourth biggest gainer (behind the aforementioned two songs and Blake Shelton’s #1 “My Eyes (featuring Gwen Sebastian)” with an additional 500 spins, the song claims the #25 position.
Other key moves this week:
— Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance” goes Top 10 on the strength of 4,731 weekly spins. It is #10 on the chart.
— With 4,248 weekly spins, Dierks Bentley’s “Drunk on a Plane” advances into the Top 15 at #14.
— Eli Young Band’s “Dust” rises one place to #20.
— Rascal Flatts’ “Payback” enters the Top 40 at #40.
— While an ascent into the Top 40 is by no means a lock, John King’s “Tonight Tonight” is the fastest riser between #41 and #50. Currently #47, it picked up an additional 68 spins (for a total of 578) this past week.
