The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that a WWE creative team member recently pitched a John Cena heel turn. Reports indicate that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon did not take too well to the suggestion.
According to sources aware of the meeting, McMahon apparently “lit the guy up” about the suggestion, noting that it was “foolishly short-sighted.”
Much of the creative staff reportedly agreed with McMahon, believing that Cena’s merchandise sales as a babyface are too strong to risk for the short-term benefits of a heel turn. At the same time, some told the Observer that they do wish the idea was treated with more respect, as outright dismissal of ideas is not considered constructive to the workflow.
