Lea Michele’s “Louder” Blows Past New Shakira, Rihanna Song on iTunes

A promotional single, it will not exhibit much staying power on the iTunes Single Sales chart.

For the moment, however, Lea Michele’s “Louder” is a hotter option for music buyers than an anticipated new tune from Shakira and Rihanna.

By noon on Tuesday, “Louder,” the title track from the “Glee” Diva’s upcoming album, had ascended to number three on the iTunes sales chart. “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” the Shakira-Rihanna collaboration, was positioned at number seven.

Because “Forget” will be shipped to radio as an official single and benefit from a traditional marketing campaign, it will surely have a longer life cycle on the chart than “Louder.”

But in outperforming the high-profile track on release day, “Louder,” the third issue from Michele’s album, illustrates the passion of her following.

Previous “Louder” releases include official single “Cannonball” and promotional track “Battlefield.”
