Lorde’s “Royals” Spends Another Week at Number One

New Zealand sensation Lorde cut her teeth on the Billboard Hot 100 with one of the chart’s biggest songs in years.

The publication confirmed that her breakthrough hit “Royals” will spend an eighth consecutive week atop the Hot 100.

Despite losing steam in all key measures (digital sales, streams, on-demand plays and airplay), the song, which is expected to earn some key Grammy nominations, remains hot enough for the Hot 100’s peak position.

A multi-format smash, “Royals” extends its Hot Rock songs reign to twelve weeks. It previously spent several weeks at number one on the Alternative Songs list.

Eminem’s “The Monster (featuring Rihanna),” which most assume will be the song to finally dethrone “Royals,” spends another week at number two. Unlike the Lorde hit, its performance improved on all relevant Hot 100 metrics.

Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” maintains its third place position, while Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” and Katy Perry’s “Roar” flip-flop for numbers four and five, respectively.

OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars,” which is still gaining ground, advances to number six. Imagine Dragons’ “Demons” follows at seven, while Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” Lady Gaga’s “Applause” and Pitbull’s “Timber (featuring Ke$ha)” complete the top ten.
