After topping newcomer Demi Lovato to win this past album sales week, the Michael Jackson “Number Ones” album is set for another week on top. One-day sales data from Hits Daily Double forecasts that the late Jackson’s album will top next week’s charts with about 120,000 sales.
That figure gives Jackson the lead over “Loso’s Way,” the latest from rapper Fabolous. Fabolous will be in the number two position (top for current albums) with about 100,000 units moved. “From Nothin’ to Somethin’,” the prior release from the rapper, debuted with 159,000 sales en route to a Gold certification.
Other new releases are not faring so well. Ashley Tisdale’s “Guilty Pleasure” appears to neither be a guilty pleasure nor openly-professed love for album buyers; the “High School Musical” alum’s release is paced for sales of about 30,000.
Tracking is even more disappointing for Kristinia DeBarge’s “Exposed.” Despite making her presence felt with single “Goodbye,” the former “American Juniors” contestant could not convince music fans to open their wallets. The estimated figure for the week is 15-18,000.
UPDATE on 8/4: The final Hits Daily Double stats have Fabolous’ “Loso’s Way” leading all current albums with 97,969 sales. Ashley Tisdale’s “Guilty Pleasure” falls short of the top ten with 25,064, while DeBarge’s “Exposed” misses the top 25 based on only 16,420 units.
