The ratings race between the season finale of “American Idol” and performance finale of “The Voice” was predictably tight.
Preliminary data does, however, give the slight edge to “American Idol.”
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, ABC’s “American Idol” averaged a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating and 8.65 million overall viewers from 9-11PM.
Airing from 8-10PM, NBC’s “The Voice” averaged a 1.5 and 8.61 million viewers.
It is worth noting that the shows actually posted the same 1.5 demo rating in the 9PM hour (“The Voice” claimed a slight lead in viewers; 8.35 million vs. 8.29 million). “Idol” grew to a 1.7 at 10PM, which lifted its average to a 1.6.
“Idol” currently ranks as Monday’s highest-rated and most-watched network program.
Fast national data, as a reminder, is subject to revision. Headline Planet will share any meaningful revisions later this afternoon.
