Taylor Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down” Likely Headed For #1 At Hot AC Radio

“You Need To Calm Down” should reach #1 this week.

Taylor Swift will likely score the first radio #1 of the “Lover” era this week. “You Need To Calm Down,” the second single from her album, has a good chance of topping this week’s Mediabase hot adult contemporary radio chart.

The single received 5,337 spins during the first six days of the October 20-26 tracking period. Up 4% from the count at this point last week, the tally earns “You Need To Calm Down” the #1 position on Mediabase’s building chart.

Because “You Need To Calm Down” only maintains a slight lead over Lewis Capaldi’s building #2 “Someone You Loved” (5,309 spins, -2%), it is not an absolute lock for #1. It does, however, have the clear momentum advantage — it is up over last week, while “Someone You Loved” is down. If they remain on those trajectories through the close of tracking, the Swift song should earn #1.
