Since its launch earlier this summer, Kygo & Whitney Houston’s “Higher Love” has enjoyed plenty of fanfare and chart success.

To increase its momentum, Kygo released the official music video on Monday, August 26.

The throwback video features “Riverdale” star Vanessa Morgan leading a class of female dancers who attract the eyes (and later participation) of a group of men (led by Mason Cutler). The dancers’ aesthetic seemingly pays homage to Eric Prydz’ iconic “Call On Me” video.

The connection is clear. Like Kygo and Houston’s “Higher Lover,” the Prydz record involves turning a Steve Winwood classic (“Valerie” in that case) into a dance track.

Kygo’s new “Higher Love” video also contains tributes to the late Houston, including footage from her “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” video and a prominently placed poster.
