Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” Reaches #1, Goes Platinum In Australia

Last week, Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” rose to #3 on the ARIA Australian Top 50 Singles Chart.

This week, it ascends to #1.

The song, which dethrones Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s “Señorita,” becomes Tones and I’s first #1. It also marks the first #1 by an Australian artist since Dean Lewis’ “Be Alright” ruled the listing in the summer of 2018.

In addition to reaching #1, “Dance Monkey” scores a platinum certification from ARIA, signifying 70,000 in Australian units.

The track is one of three Tones and I songs on this week’s chart; “Johnny Run Away” rises one spot to #14, while “Never Seen The Rain” jumps six places to #32.

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” holds at #2 on this week’s chart, while the aforementioned “Señorita” drops to #3. Billie Eilish’s “bad guy” (#4, =) and Ed Sheeran’s “Beautiful People (featuring Khalid)” (#5, =) complete the Top 5.
