Ariana Grande & Social House launched their collaborative “Boyfriend” at midnight late Thursday/early Friday, and it is unsurprisingly receiving a warm welcome from the music market.

The song soared to #1 on the US iTunes sales chart Friday morning. It remains in that position as of press time at 8AM ET.

Because it launched at 12AM Friday on the east coast, “Boyfriend” technically launched late Thursday night in other US time zones. Since stations within those time zones provided immediate airplay, “Boyfriend” amassed a handful of Thursday night spins.

According to Mediabase, Los Angeles’ 102.7 KIIS FM and San Francisco’s 99.7 NOW each played “Boyfriend” 4 times Thursday night. Six additional west coast stations played the song 3 times, while others offered 1 or 2 spins. “Boyfriend” is due to receive hourly Friday airplay from pop radio stations across the country.

“Boyfriend” is also attracting solid interest on Spotify and Apple Music, where it has received prominent playlist placement.
