Songs by two of our generation’s true music powerhouses debut on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.

Carrie Underwood’s “Southbound” takes #96 on this week’s edition of the definitive, all-genre song chart. Beyonce’s “Spirit” concurrently grabs #98.

“Southbound” is Underwood’s current country radio single. The song continues to march toward the format’s Top 10.

“Spirit” was the first track released from Beyonce’s “The Lion King: The Gift.” The full album, which is a companion to the new version of “The Lion King,” launched this past Friday.

The Hot 100 ranks songs based on sales, streams and radio activity.
