Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s Oscar-winning “Shallow” is moving toward #1 on the Mediabase hot adult contemporary radio chart. It has a chance of getting there as soon as this week.

“Shallow” received 2,497 spins during the first three days of the April 14-20 tracking period. While the count still positions “Shallow” at #2 on the building/real-time chart, the song is within striking distance of #1. Benny Blanco, Halsey & Khalid’s “Eastside,” the building #1 song, maintains a lead of only 76 spins.

“Shallow,” moreover, has a clear momentum advantage. Whereas it is up 6% from the same-time-last-week count, “Eastside” is down 2%.

If both songs remain on their current trajectories, “Shallow” will narrowly pull ahead by the end of the tracking week. And even if “Shallow” misses #1 this week, it would presumably have a shot at #1 next week (it is impossible to guarantee that outcome, because older songs like “Shallow” are always at risk of sharp airplay declines).
