“Without Me” and “thank u, next” embody the term “balanced hit.”

Halsey’s “Without Me” and Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” are #2 and #3, respectively, on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.

They also occupy Top 5 positions on each of the component charts that help inform the overall Hot 100.

“Without Me” appears at #2 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart, #3 on this week’s Radio Songs chart and #3 on this week’s Streaming Songs chart.

“thank u, next” is #5 for sales, #4 for streams and #4 for radio.

“Without Me” and “thank u, next” are the only songs in the Top 5 for all three columns.

The uppermost section of this week’s Hot 100 does, however, feature more “balanced hits” than has often been the case in recent months. Post Malone & Swae Lee’s “Sunflower,” the #1 song on the Hot 100, is in the #1 song for sales and streams and the #10 song for radio. Travi$ Scott’s “SICKO MODE” (#4 on the Hot 100) and Marshmello & Bastille’s “Happier” (#6 on the Hot 100) also appear in the Top 10 for all three components.
