Ratings: “This Is Us” Season Premiere Wins Night, “New Amsterdam” Rules Timeslot

NBC’s Tuesday night dramas posted good numbers Tuesday night.

It did not perform as well as last year’s opener, but the third season premiere of “This Is Us” still performed well.

It narrowly topped last season’s finale, outperformed most second season episodes, and convincingly ranked as Tuesday’s #1 show (

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, the episode drew a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 10.40 million viewers.

Last year’s premiere drew a 3.9 rating and 12.9 million overall viewers. The second season finale posted a 2.7 in the demo and 10.94 million in viewership.

Tuesday’s “This Is Us,” as noted, comfortably ranked as the night’s top performer in the demo.

NBC actually managed an adults 18-49 sweep across all three primetime hours. “The Voice” won the 8PM hour with a 2.1 rating (and 9.80 million viewers), while new drama “New Amsterdam” led 10PM with a 1.9 rating (and 8.44 million viewers).
