Khalid & Normani’s “Love Lies” is approaching the #1 position on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart. It may get there this week.

The enduring hit received 10,857 spins during the first four days of the September 9-15 tracking period. Up 2.4% from the count at this point last week, the tally brings “Love Lies” within immediate striking distance of #1 on the building/real-time airplay chart.

Post Malone’s “Better Now,” the #1 song on the real-time listing, received 10,858 spins during the aforementioned four-day window. You read that correctly – it maintains a one-spin lead over “Love Lies.”

“Love Lies” also has the clear momentum advantage; while it is up 2.4% from the same-time-last-week mark, “Better Now” is down 0.5%.

Granted, “Better Now” is holding up a bit better than expected, and “Love Lies” is naturally slowing as it reaches a practical ceiling in terms of spins. As such, it is too early to guarantee “Love Lies” will reach #1 on this week’s chart.

It certainly has a strong chance of getting there, however.
