As Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” celebrates a second week atop the Billboard Hot 100, news comes regarding a new certification from the RIAA.

The ballad has been certified double platinum in the United States.

Issued on December 15, the award confirms 2 million in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

Released as the third American (fourth international) single from Sheeran’s hit album “Divide,” the ballad has caught fire in recent weeks. It has been a strong performer on the sales, radio and streaming fronts — and the release of alternate versions featuring Beyonce and Andrea Bocelli have only added to its momentum.
