Charlie Puth’s “Attention” Takes Lead In Race For #1 At Pop Radio

“Attention” is on the verge of becoming Puth’s first pop radio #1 as a lead artist.

Charlie Puth’s “Attention” has taken an early lead in the race for #1 on this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

The single received 5,174 spins during the first two days of the August 20-26 tracking week. Up 5.5% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots “Attention” at #1 on Mediabase’s building chart.

Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” which spent the past two weeks at #1, is #2 on the building chart. It received 5,132 spins during the tracking period’s first two days (+2.8%).

Because its lead is so slight, it is too early to definitively guarantee a #1 finish for “Attention.” The odds definitely favor it, however. In addition to the existing lead, “Attention” has the momentum advantage (it is up 5.5% from last week, while “TNHMB” is up 2.8%).

Should it be crowned #1 on this week’s chart, “Attention” will be Puth’s first chart-topper as a lead artist. His only previous trip to #1 was as a featured artist on Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again.”
