Update: As of 12:30PM ET Wednesday, Sam Hunt’s new single “Body Like A Back Road” is #1 on the all-genre US iTunes sales chart.

It is the first Sam Hunt song to ever top the chart.

The “Montevallo” album era established Sam Hunt as one of country music’s biggest stars, and his next chapter is predictably off to a good start.

Hunt’s new single “Body Like A Back Road,” which arrived early Wednesday morning, is already near the top of the US iTunes sales chart.

It is #3 of 9:25AM ET Wednesday morning. Only ZAYN & Taylor Swift’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” hold higher positions.

“Body Like A Back Road” will receive ample opening day support at country radio, where Hunt scored four #1s during his previous album cycle.
