Rihanna Confirms “Love On The Brain” As Next Single

Speculation regarding Rihanna’s next single can apparently come to a conclusion. The artist herself has revealed its identity.

Sunday night, Rihanna shared an Instagram video in which she is singing “Love On The Brain.” Affixed to the video is the caption “#nextsingle.”

The news will doubtfully come as a surprise to members of the Navy. Earlier this month, Philadelphia Radio DJ Mike Adam Tweeted word that “Love On The Brain” had been selected as the next Rihanna single.

Headline Planet subsequently revealed that “Love On The Brain” was receiving early rhythmic airplay from Las Vegas’ Hot 97.5.

That is not to say there was never any ambiguity about the next single from Rihanna’s “ANTI.” Earlier this summer, Def Jam featured “Sex With Me” in its weekly radio recap — a list that generally only includes official radio singles. “Sex With Me” was also receiving substantial airplay from major market rhythmic and urban stations.

Neither Rihanna nor Def Jam has provided an impact date for “Love On The Brain,” which will serve as the follow-up to “Needed Me.”

“Needed Me,” which was a multi-week #1 at rhythmic and urban radio, is beginning to decline at those formats. It is #16, with a bullet, at pop.
