Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” Certified 6X Platinum; “Photograph” Goes 2X

Leap Day brought good news for Ed Sheeran, who received new RIAA certifications for his singles “Thinking Out Loud” and “Photograph.”

The former, Grammy-winning smash was certified 6x platinum on February 29, 2016. “Photograph” went 2x platinum.

Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, the certifications confirm US unit totals of 6,000,000 and 2,000,000, respectively. One unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams (previously 100 streams, retroactive scoring may apply).

Both singles appear on Sheeran’s double-platinum album “x.”
