Childish Gambino’s “Because The Internet” Earns Gold Certification in US

Childish Gambino [Glassnote]

Childish Gambino’s “Because The Internet,” which debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200 in late 2013, recently earned a gold certification in the United States.

Issued February 18, 2016, the gold certification confirms a US unit total of at least 500,000. One unit is equal to 1 album sale, 10 track sales or 1500 track streams.

The honor represents the rapper’s first RIAA award for a rapper. He also has four gold singles — “Bonfire,” “Sweatpants,” “3005,” and “Heartbeat” — within his discography.
