DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean” Earns Platinum Honor In The United States

DNCE [FOX]

“Cake By The Ocean,” the debut single from the Joe Jonas-fronted DNCE, has officially gone platinum under the RIAA’s digital singles program.

While the certification does not yet appear on the RIAA’s official web database, Republic Records announced the news Monday afternoon.

A platinum certification confirms a US digital unit total of at least 1 million. As of February 1, a digital unit was equal to 1 paid download or 150 on-demand audio or video streams.

The previous conversion rate equated a unit to 100 streams; the extent to which retroactive scoring was applied is unclear.

“Cake” has sold over 650,000 paid downloads in the United States.
