Ratings: CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals” Hold Steady For Friday Debuts

The Friday move had no immediate impact on ratings for The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.” Both series held flat in the adults 18-49 demographic.

The former enjoyed a slight uptick in total viewership, while the latter endured a slight decline.

Per fast national data, Friday’s “TVD” drew a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating and reached 1.235 million total viewers. Airing on Thursday, December 10, the previous “TVD” drew a 0.5 in the demo and a total audience of 1.178 million.

This week’s “The Originals” led out of “The Vampire Diaries” with a 0.4 rating and 930,000 viewers. The previous broadcast, which also aired on 12/10, posted a 0.4 with 970,000.

On the surface level (without taking into account deeper budgetary and long-term business concerns), The CW’s scheduling shuffle seems to represent a positive, at least thus far. Friday’s “TVD” and “The Originals” fared better than was typical of “Reign” and its 9PM companion series, while “Legends of Tomorrow” and “The 100” are faring better on Thursday than was typical of “TVD” and “TO.”
