Ratings: MTV’s “Follow The Rules” Premiere Drew 380K Viewers

Reality series “Follow The Rules” joined MTV’s softly rated Monday night lineup with a modest performance of its own.

According to Nielsen cable data, Monday’s premiere drew a 0.17 adults 18-49 rating and 380,000 total viewers.

Certainly not strong, the numbers are not dramatically removed from those of the show’s “Faking It” lead-in. Monday’s “Faking It” drew a 0.20 adults 18-49 rating with 441,000 viewers.

Monday’s “Follow The Rules” also provided MTV with week-to-week improvement in the 10PM slot. “Girl Code Live,” which occupied the 10-10:30PM half hour last week, drew a 0.08 rating with 187,000 viewers — and it aired out of a higher-rated edition of “Faking It.” This week’s “Girl Code Live” aired at 10:30PM and drew the same 0.08 rating.

Ratings junkies should note that the “Follow The Rules” premiere was made available for streaming a week before Monday night’s broadcast. While the jury remains out on whether early streaming availability substantially hurts a show’s television performance, it is certainly a factor worthy of consideration.
