ABC Orders More “Quantico;” First Look at Sunday’s New Episode

Late last week, NBC ordered additional episodes of its freshman series “Blindspot.”

Tuesday, ABC made the same move with its hot new drama.

The network officially ordered an additional six episodes of “Quantico.” The order brings the show’s season one episode count to 19.

While three short of the traditional “back nine,” the order still results in a “full season” for the buzzworthy new ABC series. Sources, moreover, say ABC retains the option to order the remaining three first season episodes if warranted by scheduling needs.

Despite suffering a ratings drop this week, “Quantico” was ABC’s top-performing Sunday night series in each of its first three weeks. It is also building impressively on its “Blood & Oil” lead-in — and on last year’s performance in the Sunday at 10PM timeslot.

“Quantico” continues this Sunday with the “Kill” episode.

“At Quantico, the recruits are tasked with performing a hostage rescue training exercise that shakes Alex, making her question her ability and whether she should quit Quantico,” says ABC’s official synopsis. “While in the future, Alex continues to search for clues, finding one that questions the innocence of one of her closest classmates. But is her clue really what she thinks? No one is who they seem.”
