Ratings: MTV’s “Awkward,” “Faking It” Crash to Series Lows

The Labor Day holiday did not prove kind to MTV’s Monday night lineup. Comedies “Awkward” and “Faking It” sank to series lows in adults 18-49 and total viewership. “Todrick” and “Girl Code Live” were down significantly from last week’s already-soft premiere numbers.

“Awkward” kicked off the lineup with a 0.30 adults 18-49 rating with 682,000 total viewers. Both numbers were down markedly from those of last week’s broadcast, which posted a 0.72 rating and reached 1.287 million total viewers.

“Faking It,” which posted a 0.48 with 922,000 total viewers last week, followed with a 0.20 rating and 584,000 viewers this week.

“Todrick” (0.08 with 237,000 this week vs. 0.27 with 504,000 last week) and “Girl Code Live” (0.08 with 217,000 vs. 0.13 with 394,000) filled the 10PM hour.

In addition to the general Labor Day factor, MTV’s programs also faced stiff competition from ESPN’s college football game. The reality, however, is that all four shows would have likely fallen from last week’s premiere numbers even amid more favorable scheduling circumstances.
