Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” Goes 3X Platinum, “PRISM” Certified 2X

When it comes to RIAA certifications, July 31, 2015 was a big day for Katy Perry. Her albums “Teenage Dream” and “PRISM” both received new multi-platinum distinctions.

For 2010’s “Teenage Dream,” the new certification was of the 3X platinum variety. That distinction confirms a US shipment total in excess of 3 million units.

Perry’s 2013 release “PRISM,” meanwhile, earned a 2x platinum certification. Since it had not been previously certified by the RIAA, the album retroactively earned gold and platinum awards on the same day.

Not simply successful as complete packages, both albums have spawned multi-platinum hit singles.
