Katy Perry’s “ET” Officially Earns 8X Platinum Certification, “Birthday” Goes Platinum

In addition to providing new multi-platinum certifications for her albums, July 31, 2015 also brought forth updated distinctions for two singles.

“ET,” which appears on “Teenage Dream,” officially received an 8X platinum certification from the RIAA. “PRISM” single “Birthday” officially earned a platinum distinction.

Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, a plaitnum certification confirms a US unit total in excess of 1 million units. A digital unit is equivalent to 1 paid download or 100 streams.

“Birthday” now boasts a US unit total of at least 1 million. “ET” has driven at least 8 million units.
