Becky G’s “Shower” Earns 2X Platinum Certification in the US

Thus far the biggest hit of Becky G’s career, “Shower” is also her first song to receive certifications under the RIAA’s digital singles program.

On July 8, the young artist’s single formally earned a 2x platinum certification. Insofar as it had not previously been honored by the RIAA, it also retroactively received platinum and gold certifications.

Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, the 2x platinum certification confirms a US unit total in excess of 2 million. A unit is equal to one paid download or 100 streams.

Other recent multi-platinum certifications include a 3x mark for Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” and a 5x distinction for Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”
