Darius Rucker’s “Homegrown Honey” Reaches #1 at Country Radio

There is a new number one song at country radio, and its title contains the word “Homegrown.”

It is not, however, Zac Brown Band’s “Homegrown.” Mediabase’s weekly country airplay chart instead falls in favor of Darius Rucker’s “Homegrown Honey.”

While the ZBB song, which claimed #2 on last week’s chart, appeared destined to take the lead on this week’s listing, Rucker’s tune enjoyed a considerably greater weekly surge. That took it from #3 on last week’s listing to #1 this week.

Not simply the leader in Mediabase chart points, “Homegrown Honey” also ranked as the panel’s most played and most heard song. It received ~7,963 spins and 61.34 million audience impressions during the March 22-28 tracking week.

“Homegrown,” which holds at #2, earned approximately 7,731 spins with 60.36 million impressions.

Other top five country radio songs include Sam Hunt’s #3 “Take Your Time,” Chris Young’s #4 “Lonely Eyes” and Cole Swindell’s #5 “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey.” The Swindell song held #1 on last week’s chart.
