Ratings: E!’s “The Royals” Climbs in Demo Despite Weakened Lead-In

The second installment of “The Royals” was technically a mixed bag in the ratings.

On the one hand, the E! scripted series enjoyed a week-over-week gain in the adults 18-49 demographic. After premiering with a 0.50 adults 18-49 rating on March 15, “The Royals” drew a 0.60 rating for the March 22 airing.

On the other hand, it endured a viewership decline. This Sunday’s “The Royals” averaged 1.32 million viewers, while the March 15 premiere reached 1.41 million.

Worth noting: Sunday’s “The Royals” received considerably weaker lead-in support from E! flagship “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” After scoring a 1.24 with 2.55 million viewers last week, “The Kardashians” managed a 1.05 with only 2.08 million viewers this week.

Judged in that context, the freshman series therefore deserves special credit for improving its second week adults 18-49 rating and minimizing its week two viewership decline.
