Papa Roach’s “FEAR” Goes #1 at Rock, Modest Mouse’s “Lampshades” Tops Alt

Change is in the air at rock radio. New songs now reign over the active rock and alternative/modern rock.

Papa Roach’s “Face Everything and Rise” reaches the pinnacle of Mediabase’s active rock radio airplay chart. The song, which commanded 1,792 spins during the March 1-7 tracking week, seizes the throne from Three Days Grace’s “I Am Machine.”

That song, which spent several weeks atop the chart, slips to #5 on this week’s listing (1,416 spins).

Other top five rock songs include Halestorm’s #2 “Apocalyptic” (1,713 spins), Foo Fighters’ #3 “Congregation” (1,658 spins) and The Pretty Reckless’ #4 “Follow Me Down” (1,647 spins).

Modest Mouse’s “Lampshades on Fire,” meanwhile, rises to the top of the alternative airplay chart.

The song’s weekly spin count of 2,577 narrowly bests the 2,576 earned by Walk the Moon’s previous chart-topper “Shut Up and Dance.” That song falls to #2 this week.

Other top five alt songs include Robert DeLong’s #3 “Long Way Down” (1,939), Bleachers’ #4 “Roller Coaster” (1,933) and Cage the Elephant’s “Cigarette Daydreams” (1,885).
