Taylor Swift’s “Style” Ranks as Pop & Hot AC’s Greatest Airplay Gainer

Thanks to another week of format-leading airplay gains, Taylor Swift’s “Style” is now on the verge of hitting #1 at pop radio and inside the top 5 at hot adult contemporary.

While its position on Mediabase’s weekly pop airplay chart does not change, its separation from the #1 spot greatly shrinks. Taylor Swift’s “Style” repeats at #3 on the strength of the 17,789 spins it received during the March 1-7 tracking period.

The spin count bests last week’s total by a whopping 2,388. No other pop song enjoyed a gain of that significance.

More importantly, it brings “Style” within 1,130 spins of the number one spot, which is currently held by Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” (18,919 spins). If the two songs maintain their current paces, “Style” will reach number one in time for the release of next week’s airplay chart.

Mark Ronson’s declining “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars),” which is presently sandwiched between the songs on the pop chart, commanded 18,768 weekly spins.

“Style,” meanwhile, makes a major leap at hot adult contemporary. Up four positions this week, the song grabs the #4 slot on the strength of its 5,517 weekly spins. No other Hot AC song’s spin gain rivals the 812 week-over-week boost achieved by “Style.”

Taylor Swift’s “Style” is also in the top 20 at adult contemporary and the top 30 at rhythmic.
