Death Cab for Cutie’s “Black Sun” Claims #18 at Alt; AWOLNATION Opens at #21

Two high-profile new releases debut within the top 25 of Mediabase’s alternative radio airplay chart.

The format’s hottest new entry comes in the form of Death Cab for Cutie’s “Black Sun.” Thanks to the 814 spins it received during the January 25-31 tracking week, the song opens at #18 on the chart.

It is the only new addition to the format’s top 20.

It is not, however, the only hot debut this week. AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” opens at #21 on the strength of its 747 tracking week spins.

— Joywave’s “Somebody New,” which was #28 on last week’s chart, also enters the top 25 this week. It grabs the #24 position.
