“The Hanging Tree” Scores Impressive Support from Hot AC Radio

Those who prefer quality to quantity will want to take notice of how James Newton Howard’s “The Hanging Tree (featuring Jennifer Lawrence)” fared at hot adult contemporary this week.

While it was not one of the format’s five most-added songs this week, it garnered support from some of the format’s most important stations.

Five of the seven monitored stations to add the song from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” exist in major markets. New York’s Fresh 102.7, Chicago’s 101.9fm THE MIX, Boston’s Mix 104.1, Dallas’ 102.9 NOW and Dallas’ 103.7 KVIL represent the high-profile stations now on board with “The Hanging Tree.”

The song also landed at Atlantic City’s SoJO 104.9 and Modesto’s Radio 929.

Arguably in possession of the week’s most impressive add list, “The Hanging Tree” was the format’s 10th-most-added track overall.
