The Voice’s Craig Wayne Boyd Debuts on the Hot 100

With the finals of NBC’s “The Voice” in full swing, iTunes sales are now very relevant to the outcome.

Thanks to that relevance, contestant recordings are generating enough sales interest to earn debuts on Billboard’s all-encompassing Hot 100.

Last week, Team Adam contestant Matt McAndrew arrived on the chart courtesy his take on “Take Me to Church.” This week, Team Blake contestant Craig Wayne Boyd enters the mix with “I Walk the Line.”

His acclaimed take on the classic arrives at #84 on the listing, which bests the debut position of McAndrew’s “Church” by six.

Its inaugural week performance was also enough to reach #15 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

Insofar as all made the top ten of the iTunes sales chart this week, Matt McAndrew’s “The Blower’s Daughter,” Taylor John Williams’ “Royals” and Damien’s “Someone Like You” are potential candidates to reach next week’s Hot 100.
