Katy Perry Reportedly Tapped as Super Bowl Halftime Performer

Over the summer, reports broke that the frontrunners for the 2015 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show were Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay.

Proving those reports true, word broke Thursday evening that the league is indeed going with Perry as its mid-game entertainment.

The news comes just a few days after Perry, while appearing on ESPN’s College Game Day, declared, “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.” Perry’s comment was a reference to reports that the NFL, arguing that its Super Bowl halftime show provides immensely valuable exposure for performers, approached entertainers about paying prime dollar for the gig this year.

NBC, which is broadcasting this coming year’s game, has yet to formally confirm the news.
