ABC Confirms Full Seasons of “black-ish,” “How To Get Away with Murder”

ABC will not attempt to get away with murdering its two highest-profile fall launches.  The network announced Thursday that it has ordered full seasons of “How to Get Away with Murder” and “black-ish.”

It should be noted that while a “full season” refers to the typical 22 episode slate for “black-ish,” it means only 15 episodes in the case of “Murder.”

Given their instant resonance with viewers–and the fact that “black-ish” enjoyed a double-digit ratings gain in week two–the upgraded orders should not surprise anyone.

“‘How to Get Away with Murder’ was television’s top series debut of the season and the biggest 10 p.m. drama debut in two years in Adults 18-49. ‘black-ish’ opened as the #2 series debut and the #1 comedy debut on television by the same metric. Additionally, ‘black-ish’ had the best-ever viewer retention out of ‘Modern Family’ for any comedy debut,” boasts ABC.

Both shows had their third airings this week.
