5SOS’ “Amnesia” Scores at Pop Radio, Tops Usher, Childish Gambino

Pop Radio programmers did not forget about the new tracks from Usher and Childish Gambino this week, but they were far more interested in 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Amnesia.”

The song, which officially impacted the pop format last week, had an even stronger second outing. According to Mediabase, “Amnesia” scored adds from 43 stations to rank as pop radio’s most-added song.

New York’s powerhouse Z100 was among that group of 43 supportive stations.

Ariana Grande’s sizzling hit “Break Free (featuring Zedd),” which is already #15 on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart, ranked as second-most-added with 39 new pickups. Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t” scored 33 adds in its second week, which gave it the edge over Sia’s “Chandelier” (24) and Usher’s new “She Came to Give it To You (featuring Nicki Minaj)” (22).

Other popular choices included Meghan Trainor’s breakthrough “All About That Bass” (21 adds, 6th-most-added), Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” (20 adds, 7th-most-added), Kiesza’s “Hideaway” (20 adds, 7th-most-added), Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando (featuring Descemer Bueno, Sean Paul and Gente de Zona)” (18 adds, 9th-most-added) and Fifth Harmony’s “Bo$$” (16 adds, 10th-most-added).

Childish Gambino’s newly-impacting “3005” landed at 15 stations, while Kim Cesarion’s debuting “Undressed” arrived at only 6.

Since Mediabase only includes data from monitored reporters in its airplay chart, it is also worth looking at how songs fared with those specific stations:

1) 5 Seconds of Summer – Amnesia – 42 monitored adds
2) Ariana Grande – Break Free featuring Zedd – 39 monitored adds
3) Ed Sheeran – Don’t – 30 monitored adds
4) Sia – Chandelier – 23 monitored adds
5) Usher – She Came to Give it To You featuring Nicki Minaj – 21 monitored adds
6) Iggy Azalea – Black Widow featuring Rita Ora – 19 monitored adds
7) Enrique Iglesias – Bailando featuring Descemer Bueno, Sean Paul and Gente de Zona – 18 monitored adds
7) Kiesza – Hideaway – 18 monitored adds
7) Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass – 18 monitored adds
10) Fifth Harmony – Bo$$ – 16 monitored adds
