“The Mentalist” Lives On; CBS Series Renewed for Season 7

Saturday was not a strictly negative day for CBS.

While the network did swing the ax on five freshman series, it also confirmed that veteran “The Mentalist” will return for a seventh season.

Once a standout ratings performer, the series has struggled to draw a sizable adults 18-49 audience in its current Sunday timeslot. Given that struggle–and its age–many assumed it would be departing.

Many were wrong.
