NBC Debuts New “Young Jimmy” Teaser for Fallon’s “Tonight Show”

After visiting the storied history of its iconic “The Tonight Show” in last week’s teaser, NBC is now focusing on the roots of its new host.

The cutesy spot jokes that Jimmy Fallon, who takes over hosting duties on February 17, has been preparing for the gig since childhood. It then flashes back to 1979, where it fictitiously portrays a young Fallon unveiling his hosting chops before a crowd of his childhood peers.

“Did you hear this news? They say in Washington that the president is a ‘poopy head,'” cracks the five-year-old version of Fallon in his attempt to deliver a signature late-night monologue.

In addition to spoofing the talk show’s signature interview style, young Fallon also introduces in-house band The Roots (played by young replicas of the famous musical act).
