1D’s “Midnight Memories” Ignites Track Sales; “You & I” Leads

Update: One Direction succeeded; all eighteen tracks from the “Midnight Memories” deluxe edition reached the Top 100 on iTunes.

As of press time, “Something Great,” the lone holdout from this morning’s update, had reached as high as number eighty four.

Interestingly, the best performing “Midnight Memories” tracks appear to have slowed. “You & I,” which was fourteen as of Monday morning, has only advanced to thirteen. “Don’t Forget Where You Belong” has actually slipped from fifteen to seventeen.

Within a few hours, it is likely One Direction’s “Midnight Memories” will have accomplished a feat none of the recent high-profile albums from artists like Lady Gaga, Eminem and Katy Perry could achieve.

After less than twenty four hours of release, it will have launched all individual tracks, including those from the standard and deluxe editions, into the Top 100 on iTunes’ Single Sales Chart.

Already on the cusp of the achievement, every song but one–“Something Great”–has ascended into the chart’s Top 100. And with that song positioned at 107, it seems like only a matter of time before it crosses the threshold and helps 1D perfect its achievement.

All seventeen other songs are already there, and by the end of the day, it is possibly two of the previously unreleased tracks will have familiarized themselves with the sent of the top ten.

“You & I” and “Don’t Forget Where You Belong,” those songs, are currently positioned at #14 and #15. While “Story of My Life” is charting higher at number 5, it benefits from being the boy band’s current single. Number eight song “Strong,” meanwhile, was issued as the album’s final promo track this Friday.

“You & I” was neither promoted as a single nor released as a hype track and is thus climbing the charts on its own.

As of noon Eastern, here is the chart positioning for every “Midnight Memories” track:

One Direction’s “Midnight Memories” tracks:
5) Story of My Life (Official Single #2)
8) Strong (Promo Single)
14) You & I
15) Don’t Forget Where You Belong
16) Midnight Memories (Promo Single)
19) Diana (Promo Single)
34) Best Song Ever (Official Single #1)
41) Half a Heart
42) Happily
54) Does He Know
56) Alive
61) Why Don’t We Go There
66) Little White Lies
71) Right Now
75) Little Black Dress
76) Through the Dark
86) Better Than Words
107) Something Great
