“The Voice” Wins Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition

It will never be as popular as “American Idol” was in its prime, but “The Voice,” television’s most buzzed-about music competition series did something “Idol” never did: win the Outstanding Reality Competition Series Emmy.

“The Voice” picked up the award Sunday, beating out reigning champ “The Amazing Race,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Project Runway,” “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Top Chef.”

Prior to Sunday’s win for “The Voice,” only one other series–“Top Chef”–had defeated “Race” for the key reality genre Emmy.
