Report: The Governor Confirmed for Season Four of “The Walking Dead”

After brutally gunning down most of his fellow Woodbury ‘soldiers,’ David Morrissey’s Governor drove off with his two closest henchmen and was never again seen in “The Walking Dead”‘s season finale.

But fans of the villain should rest assured that he will be back. THR reports that Morrissey has inked a deal to return as a series regular in season four.

Though his character has been subject to criticism about uneven and tedious writing in the back half of season three, Morrissey’s work itself has generally received praise. And so even though the third season seemed to be building towards his demise in the finale, the possibility lingered that The Governor would survive.

Unclear at press time is how the Governor’s story will next unfold; though a reprisal of his conflict with Rick Grimes’ team of survivors seems inevitable, it is not certain season four will open with an immediate renewal of their war.
