Vince McMahon Gets Behind Ryback, WWE Wrestlers Less Impressed

Ryback is something of a controversial figure in WWE, as Chairman Vince McMahon and some members of the roster do not see eye to eye on the performer.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon has been impressed with the way the gimmick is going and feels the performer is delivering as desired. WWE officials are not pleased with the constant “Goldberg” chants, but SmackDown! at least gives the company the chance to strip those chants from the broadcast.

Some members of the “crew” (presumably wrestlers and agents), however, worry that Ryback’s intensity and sloppiness in slamming wrestlers makes him a severe injury risk. One would assume hesitance to work with the aggressive performer at least partially explains why WWE constantly turns to local independent talent, rather than preliminary-level roster members, to sell the weekly Ryback beatdown.
