Latest News on Randy Orton’s Injury, WWE SmackDown! Storyline

As surmised in Headline Planet’s earlier report, the Randy Orton-Wade Barrett angle taped at this week’s WWE SmackDown! was a means of writing Orton out of storylines while he deals with an injury.

Contrary to some reports, it does not appear Orton was significantly injured during the actual Falls Count Anywhere match, as WWE has led fans to believe on its Twitter and website.

He is, however, reportedly suffering from some sort of back injury, and that need for at least a short-term break (it is currently unclear if he will miss any meaningful time) is responsible for the ending of the Falls Count Anywhere match, which sees Barrett “injure” Orton by throwing him down a flight of stairs.
