“Real Steel” Dominates Weekend Box Office, “Ides of March” Soft

Grossing slightly better than expected, “Real Steel” had no problem claiming the weekend box office victory with ease.

The Hugh Jackman-starrer garnered $27.3 million, more-than-doubling the total for number two newcomer “The Ides of March.” At $10.4 million, “Ides” represents another soft box office debut for a critically-acclaimed Ryan Gosling film.

No other major newcomers debuted, allowing “Dolphin Tale” ($9.2 million), “Moneyball” ($7.5 million) and “50/50” ($5.5 million) to round out the top five.
