WWE Taps “Psych” Star for “Tough Enough,” The Rock Also Set

USA Network confirmed in a press release this week that wrestling icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and “Psych” star James Roday will appear as guest stars during the upcoming season of “Tough Enough.”

The show, which premieres April 4 after RAW before moving to its regular 8PM timeslot on April 11, marks a revival of WWE’s MTV-broadcast reality series from the early-2000s.

While little explanation is needed for The Rock’s appearance on the show, Roday, too, has a wrestling connection. His character on “Psych” is a wrestling fan (the show features multiple references to pro wrestling, and has also featured John Cena and Mickie James in guest spots), and he was once booked to guest host on WWE RAW with his co-star Dule Hill.

A medical issue ended up keeping Roday away from that live RAW appearance.

Obviously, however, the USA tie-in is the biggest driver for the cross-promotional appearance.
